At least 100 killed in blast at a mosque in Afghanistan's Kunduz
In a major attack carried out in Kunduz province of Afghanistan, more than 100 people were killed in a mosque. The blast took place when Shiite Muslims had gathered for afternoon prayers at the Sayed Abad Mosque in Kunduz. A Taliban police official said at least 100 people were killed in the blast. In the horrific pictures that have surfaced on social media, dead bodies can be seen lying inside the mosque. The news agency AFP also quoted hospital sources as saying that at least 50 people have died. So far no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack. The Islamic State has intensified attacks in Afghanistan since the Taliban took over control of the country.
