Nobel Prize in Chemistry to be awarded to Benjamin List and David Macmillan
The Nobel Prize Committee announced the 2021 prizes for chemistry. The Nobel Prize will be given to Benjamin List and David WC Macmillan for the development of asymmetric organocatalysis. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences stated that the biological catalysts can be used to drive many chemical reactions. Using which, researchers can now create pharmaceuticals and molecules that can capture light in solar cells more efficiently. It said these catalysts were both eco- friendly and cost-efficient. The Nobel Peace Prize for Chemistry is worth 10 million Swedish crowns ($1.14 million). The awards for medicine or physiology and physics were announced earlier this week.
