Kerala: Senior Congress leader PV Balakrishnan quits partyBa
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi suffered another major setback from his parliamentary constituency Wayanad on Tuesday as senior Wayanad leader and former District Congress Committee (DCC) president PV Balachandran quit the party. A member of the executive committee of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), Balachandran ended his 52-year-long association with the party. He said that people will not stand with a party that has lost its direction. He also criticized the state leadership of the Congress and alleged that they were not able to take a clear political stand on major issues. Earlier, former MLA KC Rosakutty, KPCC secretary MS Vishwanathan and DCC general secretary Anil Kumar had quit the party ahead of the assembly elections held in April this year.
